After almost seven years, the next edition of this limited-run publication, is finally set for release…

When I left Traplet Publications seven years ago, I had in mind that I would create a little magazine project for myself, something that I would be able to control and that would in turn offer me the chance to present my work as I saw fit without the constraints of advertising and other business needs. As a result of this I created two editions of the magazine (that have long-since sold out and are now seemingly collector’s items!) and then planned to move on to Issue Three. Over the years that have passed I have been asked many times about this project, but work and other irritations(!) have always gotten in the way, and it is only now after creating the books that many of you have bought over the last year or so that I am now able to release another. It may be another seven years before I get around to Issue Four, but at least it’s a start!

Following closely the design and philosophy of the earlier ‘How to Build…’ series ‘Cold War Aircraft Modeller’ offers the enthusiast everything that they need to build a collection of models in a variety of scales from this fascinating period of aeronautical history. Issue Three will include the following in-depth builds:

  • Hasegawa 1:48 A-4M Skyhawk
  • Revell 1:72 Avro Shackleton
  • Zoukei-Mura 1:48 F-4J Phantom II
  • Kittyhawk 1:48 Su-17M3/M4 Fitter K

Each chapter deals with the construction and painting of the models, offering ideas, hints and tips and where needed, additional details on getting the best from each individual project. High quality paper, printing and layout, ensure that no detail is missed across the extended 60 pages of this new publication. Along with the builds, there are also smaller features dealing with full-sized reference and other interesting aspects of our wonderful hobby.

With the first 100 confirmed orders, readers will receive a frameable A4 print, offered on high-quality card stock that you can keep and hopefully hang in your office or workroom! So if you want one – be quick: once they are gone, they are gone…

As with previous titles, this one is being created as a strictly limited-run product (in all probability, printed to order) and as before, the price reflects this. Many of you will already have the other books in your collections so — hopefully — will know what this means in terms of quality and how enjoyable it is to own something that’s rather niche in its approach!

So, with that in mind I’ve decided that this time, as with the last couple of releases, I will only take confirmed orders from those modellers who complete payment of the book and not pre-orders for books to be posted out. Here are the links for confirmation and payment as usual ready for your book to be posted out:

UK Orders including postage and packing: £22 – PayPal.Me/DavidP671/22

Europe Orders including postage and packing: £25 – PayPal.Me/DavidP671/25

Rest Of World including postage and packing: £27.50 – PayPal.Me/DavidP671/27.50

When using the Paypal links, please can you ensure that you do the following:

Leave your email address so that I can contact you if necessary – and your full name – not just your screen name!

Leave a full name and mailing address and if you have reserved a copy under a screen name such as seen on here, that as well please. Sometimes its easy to click the link, but not add additional details, so please, if you can, fill in you COMPLETE address so that I can simply cut and paste it for use on the mailing labels and envelopes, don’t assume that PayPal will supply your address, as often the address is not visible to me without your input. If I can’t find your address or full name, I can’t send out the book, so the more information I have, the easier and more efficient it will be!

At the moment there are no plans to create one of the wonderful deluxe editions for this title. However, should the demand be there from modellers keen to continue with their collections, I will look into it. If there is none, or simply a handful, I will continue with my plan for only soft-back editions. So if you are interested, let me know and I will draw up a list and then take it from there…

If you need to contact me about anything to do with the book, place an order, or have any other questions, please either leave a message here, or contain me using my email address:

So for now, that’s just about it with the book, all that needs to be done now to finalise design and get everything off to the printers ready for release towards the end of this month/beginning of July, before being posted out to those that have paid for a copy. Thank you all so much for you support with this project and for taking the time to read this update. I hope that you enjoy the book when it arrives and hope that you all have a wonderful day. Thanks so much!
